Wave runs using XMPP which is virtually real-time (hence being used by Jabber and Google Talk for instant messaging), whereas Twitter’s API for clients only allows you to check for new tweets every minute or two (or else you run out of calls), ….. Twitter is nice for rapid info bullets, but it’s not news, and it’s not journalism. It’s great if you’re a useless blogger who sits on Twitter all day, but the rest of us would rather wait and get full, investigative stories.
